Reflections at Shugborough

Recently we went to the National Trust property of Shugborough – it is one of our ‘go-to’ places for when we want a pleasant, less demanding walk. On this day there had been a little flooding that had largely receded but there were still places, such as the arboretum, where some of the ground was still covered in water. It was quite a still day so that both the river and the ground water provided some interesting reflections.

Running through the estate is an ornamental diversion of the River Sow which makes for some pleasant imagery. Here is a selection of photos:

The blue ornamental iron footbridge of the river showing reflections in the water
A closer view of the blue ornamental iron footbridge of the river concentrating on the reflections in the water
Reflection of a tree stump in water that has begun to ripple
A flooded area by the arboretum reflecting some trees in the ripples
A large tree stump and surrounding trees reflecting in the water that flooded near the arboretum
Trees and a gate reflected in the floodwater by the river
The second footbridge, by the Chinese building, reflected in the water
