Late September at Canons Ashby

Last month we paid an early autumn visit (our first) to the National Trust property of Canons Ashby deep in rural Northamptonshire. We found it to be a lovely place and even the drive there to get a break from the M1 and M6 took us through some lovely villages. I really liked the local stone used in many of the buildings both here and in the villages we passed through. Below are a few photos taken on our visit:

A view of the house from the gardens
A second view of the house taken from further back on the opposite side of the gardens
One of the gates into the garden
A view of the church built of the same stone
A view of the alter inside the church dressed for All Hallows Day
The pulpit also dressed for All Hallows Day

It is obvious that the church is well looked after with the lovely Halloween decorations – a nice place to visit.
