Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal in Infra-red monochrome

On the last full day of our holiday in Yorkshire we made another visit to the National Trust property of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal. This was for two reasons: 1) to see it in fine weather (after the pouring rain a couple of days previous) and 2) so I could take photos using my infra-red converted camera. Here are the some of the resulting images:

The Abbey Tower from the route from the visitor centre
A panoramic view of some of the ruins
The tall ruins of the nave
A view through one of the tall windows on the eastern side
The abbey as seen from the footpath on the opposite side of the river
Moon Pond as seen from the high path on the eastern side
A view along the river to the Abbey

I think the stonework responds well to infra-red photography. Earlier in the day we visited Ripon Cathedral and the stonework there did not show so well. The more we do the more we learn!
