Pigeons on the bird table

Our bird table has been monopolised by pigeons eating most of the food to the exclusion of smaller birds. I decided to wire it to keep the pigeons out but let the smaller birds in. This didn’t work so I set my camera up to see what was happening. Here are the results:

Here the pigeon is balancing on the lower wire and has pushed up the higher wire
Now it is stepping in
Now it is in ready to feed

My next step is to tighten the wire. If that doesn’t work I will try a third wire…

Also other birds were coming and going. Here I show a group of starlings – I like this for the sense of movement:
