I was expecting to blog a little less frequently than I had been but I didn’t expect a 2 month delay in posting. However I have been busy during this period. Tasks I have been working on include:

  • Moving my websites to a new hosting platform. This was necessary because I needed technical coding features that were not available on the old platform.
  • Reorganising my photo galleries. This has proved to be more time consuming than I anticipated. I nearly have completed the first gallery and hope to publish that within the next week or so.
  • Change the way my website is built. Currently, it is hand-built coding in PHP. But I am not a proficient PHP programmer, and the features in the newer technologies of PHP, HTML, Javascript and Ajax are beyond my capabilities. So I am migrating my website to the latest version of Joomla, with the blog on the latest version of WordPress. This in itself required the new hosting mentioned earlier. This job is in progress but I am having problems linking the gallery ‘buy a print’ and ‘licence enquiry’ buttons to Joomla in a manner similar to what I had before.
  • At my camera club, there has been a change of committee and I now have a role in the new committee as the webmaster. This has entailed the setting up of a new website for the club. This also uses Joomla in a similar manner to that I am working on for my website. Have a look at www.bungaycameraclub.org.uk – I am quite pleased with the progress.
  • The payment system I have been using for my website, Google Wallet, has been terminated – Google are progressing other methods. So, I have been researching other options.
  • Finally, I have been upgrading my PC including a clean install of Windows 7. This in itself was quite a long task, especially with the amount of software I have installed. But this task wasn’t helped by the PC repeatedly crashing on me. To cut a long story short, there was an issue with the graphics driver (which was the first thing I installed after Windows) – using an earlier version as eliminated the problem. This lost me 2-3 days on a job that was expected to take a week!

So, photography has taken a bit of a back seat for a while…
