Final time-lapse video of a robin nesting.

I have assembled some time-lapse clips taken over several nights of a robin nesting in an outbuilding:

Short time-lapse sequencies of a robin nesting from Paul L.G. Morris on Vimeo.

This outbuilding is used by us 2-3 times a day as it houses the feed for our chickens. Despite our disturbance the bird: built the nest, laid the eggs, hatched them and all four young fledged OK.

The video starts with the robin incubating the eggs and finishes with 2 of the 4 birds leaving the nest. The images used were either late evening or early morning when the camera was in night-time infra-red mode. In daylight mode there wasn’t enough light getting to the back of the cupboard to see what is happening.

Following the fledging I checked the nest and it was completely empty. Today I went to remove it and there were 2 eggs in it! I’ll have to see if I can work out a method of getting better shots of of the birds in action.
