Making sphere/ball abstract images from simple subjects

On a visit to an open air museum that had vintage vehicles I took some photos of headlamps and played around with these images using the ‘sphereising’ technique I have developed. It does give some strange effects.

First is a headlamp from a vintage bus with the original on the left and a ‘squared’ version on the right:

Next I show two sphere/ball version of the original image:

Next I am showing a headlamp from a vintage motorcycle with the original on the left:

Not one of the better sets of images but unless you try these things you will never learn what works and what doesn’t…
