August Garden Photos

I live within a 1960s built suburban estate in a small bungalow with a small garden of about 32ft x 56ft (about 10m x 17m), the garden being my wife’s domain – mostly flowering plants. Being surrounded by other properties (except for a small corner overlooking a field, soon to be a housing estate), it is difficult to take photos showing the garden without seeing parts of other properties.

Earlier this month I decided to photograph more detailed views rather than larger areas of the garden. By taking these vignettes the surrounding houses are not seen. Below is a selection taken on one day in August:

A spread of Crocosmia in a small flower bed
Clematis on a trellis around a pond
A collection of small plants in pots with a variety of small ornamental features
French Marigolds in a pot with a standard tree
2 roses planted in chimney pots with some rocks and stone jars all by the back fence
A view across the garden showing showing a variety of plants

Taking the photos like this means that the garden can be almost any size from quite small to very large…
