On Friday we paid our first visit of the season to these inspiring gardens; it being the first open day of the year. Although I took ‘standard’ views, I also tried to capture something a little different. Here is a selection:<\/p>\n

\"primulas<\/p>\n

This first photo shows some primulas in a beautiful slate flower box. For this view I tried to show some of the context, i.e. how it fits into the area. The only thing I don’t like about the photo is the dead leaf right in the middle of the foreground. However, I don’t like to touch things that aren’t mine so I didn’t remove it. This is located to the north of the walled garden.<\/p>\n

This shows more primulas, these being planted by a wall by the house. For this view I wanted to show the extent of the planting while also being close enough to show details of the flowers.<\/p>\n

This shows a view of some potted hyacinths in the Glasshouse Garden looking though to a vintage car parked in the private entrance. This view is portrait aspect but:<\/p>\n

This one is landscape aspect.<\/p>\n

For the next two I used a fish-eye lens:<\/p>\n

This is a magnolia tree. I had to use the extreme wide angle of the fish-eye lens to get the whole of the tree in. I did try taking 3 segments with an ordinary wide-angle lens but these didn’t stitch together well.<\/p>\n
