The photo is a composite of 120 images: 24 in the panoramic set each comprising of a 5 exposure HDR processed set.

This was a bit of a fight to get processed to a reasonable degree of success; there were two major problems: Ghosting of the wind turbine blades and the stitching of the cables between the pylons.

Straightforward processing of the in-camera jpgs was not successful. In the end the processing was this:

Convert the raw images to jpg (for reference) and 16bit-tiff for processing – include lens corrections.

HDRi process the 16-bit tiff images (sets of 5 exposures, 2 stops apart) to 16bit tiff images. I decided not to try and correct the ghosting of the turbine blades but leave them asis – the multi-point blades look quite good!

Stitch the tiff images together and save as 16bit tiff.

Edit this image in photoshop for exposure/contrast and a little patching of the mismatches in the cable stitching.

This was reasonably successful but I wasn’t happy with the problems with the cables and the editing of them wasn’t too great – this shows the problem:

Subsequently I decided to purchase the recent upgrade to the new version of the stitching software which gave better results:

This error was corrected with the new software although there were still issues with the cables further along, although not as bad – these still needed a bit of patching in photoshop.

I have now put this image in the panorama gallery.

Earlier in the month we paid a visit to Woodlands View Education near Todmorden.
