Last week during an early-ish morning walk along the Waveney we saw a family of swans:<\/p>\n

\"family<\/a>The group appeared to be the two parents with three full-grown cygnets. They were swimming along the river in the same direction as we were walking so, for most of the time, we kept pace with them. Along most of the route by the river the the reeds and grasses grow quite thick and tall so there were only a few places that I could photograph them.<\/p>\n

For these walks I always take my compact camera with me in case anything interesting shows up. The sun was a quite bright causing the detail in the swans’ plumage to bleach out to white. This first photo was taken near the beginning of the route by the river. I took several photos in case they flew off but they kept on the water.<\/p>\n

This second photo was taken further along:<\/p>\n

\"family<\/a>At this point we had got a little ahead of the birds but it gave me an opportunity to show the swans in the context of the river as it gently curves back and forth into the distance. As you can see from the sky, it was quite pleasant, fine autumnal morning.<\/p>\n

This final image was taken at the end of the walk where the path peters out:<\/p>\n

\"family<\/a>I like this image as they are all in a line. It was so pleasant to see them all swimming along undisturbed by anything – no boats passed by. I felt this was a nice group of photos, not masterpieces but a record of an unusual sight.<\/p>\n
