This first winter view is of the Red and Purple borders by the south side of the house. Although it was a dull winter&#8217;s day there is still colour and interest showing in the view: the beech hedges are hanging onto their golden leaves, spring bulbs are growing and the garden is tidy.<\/p>\n<p>This next image is a winter woodland view:<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-3022\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/03\/winter-garden-at-east-ruston-old-vicarage\/e13_1202p1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3022\" title=\"E13_1202p1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1202p1.jpg\" alt=\"Winter woodland view\" width=\"399\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1202p1.jpg 399w, https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1202p1-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 85vw, 399px\" \/><\/a>There is plenty of green foliage on the woodland floor that contrasts with the browns of the fallen leaves with the white flowers of the snowdrops providing sparkling highlights. I do like the way the browns in the background and trees contrast with green.<\/p>\n<p>But work is progressing:<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-3021\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/03\/winter-garden-at-east-ruston-old-vicarage\/e13_1172p1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3021\" title=\"E13_1172p1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1172p1-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"Work in the garden\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1172p1-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1172p1-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1172p1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>I liked this little view of work in progress. This was taken around lunchtime which probably explains why the gardener was absent. I love the yellow colour of what could be winter aconites. I did have to cheat a little with this image: the blue pipe for the tap and the yellow hose from it was just too bright and distracting &#8211; I had to tone them down a bit.<\/p>\n<p>This final image is in the Winter Garden:<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-3023\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/03\/winter-garden-at-east-ruston-old-vicarage\/e13_1310p1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3023\" title=\"E13_1310p1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1310p1-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"Winter garden view\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1310p1-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1310p1-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/E13_1310p1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>This area of the garden appears to have been planted to look good in winter &#8211; and it does! I had difficulty choosing which one to show.
