In this series of photographs I am showing some views taken in Cannock Chase during the late autumn. In this first photo the bracken has shrunk back and turned dark brown. This highlights the path going uphill through the woods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trees can have the most amazing bark with textures ranging from smooth to old and gnarly (like me!). This trunk of a small trees is at the gnarly end of the scale:<\/p>\n\n\n

With some trees it is a wonder that they are still alive given the damage they have:<\/p>\n\n\n

Along the path we walk there is a stream flowing though the woodland. At this stage of its journey it is quite clear and clean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tree is at the top of a short incline. This enables a view of it against the sky that also shows its context within the wood and path:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the trees are getting old (for their type) and are suffering damage. This appears to have broken off during a storm:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
