We made a late Autumn visit to Shugborough. What was surprising was the amount of green coloured foliage still on the trees. In this post I am showing a selection of trees that are in the parkland:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I think makes this photo is not just the fabulous colour of the leaves but the flock of birds in the sky behind it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two trees demonstrates how trees have different timing in response to autumn. What always fascinates me about parkland trees is the lower leaves and branches have been eaten by the cattle leaving the base clear to a uniform height:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dead tree next to a live one. Dead trees are important to the ecology so they are kept; some standing, others felled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This next view shows the drive leading to the mansion with rust coloured trees alongside the drive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two tall trees are near the Chinese building. The one on the left is still quite green. The one on the right is a copper beech that has lost most of its leaves but still has colour. Catch this at the right time of autumn with the sun shining on it and a clear blue sky and it positively glows as can be seen in this previous post: https:\/\/www.pmstudios.co.uk\/blog\/?paged=7&m=202211<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this final photo of a tree you see a canopy over the path. This is lovely to walk through but it always amazes me that it hasn’t fallen over. The trunk leans over at quite an alarming angle but the tree survives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
