Some technical details of the photographs by Paul L.G. Morris:
A versatile and creative freelance photographer and writer.
Photographs with a Digital SLR:
The prime camera that Paul uses is a Canon D350 which is an 8 Mega pixel camera. Most pictures are now taken using both RAW (CR2) and JPEG formats - This I have been doing since August 2006. RAW is used to ensure the maximum possible quality - which cannot be reflected on a web page.
Paul uses mostly either of two lenses: A 17-85mm Zoom with image stabilisation - not a 'kit' lens, and a 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Occasionally a 75-300mm is used
Pictures taken with this camera can be identified by a prefix of 'D' in the filename, the next two digits identifying the year. The raw images start at around D06-7000
The compact camera:
Paul always carries a small compact to ensure that he 'never misses a shot'. This is a Canon Ixus 500 - a 5 Mpixel camera. Pictures from this camera can be identified with an 'I', followed by a 2 digit year.
The photographs:
Paul believes that where possible the picture should be made at the taking stage - this is much more enjoyable that sitting at a computer using Photoshop. However, just as in the days of using a darkroom, one adjusted parameters at the processing and printing stages (for example, adjusting the contrast, and cropping), he recognises that it is necessary to do the equivalent for the digital image.
Should you feel the need for a print or digital file for a specific purpose, contact Paul to discuss your requirements; he will be pleased to help.
